San Diego Fires

Unlike the San Diego fires of 2003, the fires going on right now posed enough threat to us that we were evacuated at 5am this morning. We are all safe (and the cats too). We also got all of the computers out too. The phone should be forwarding to Dionne’s cell phone, so if you want to call us, just call our home phone and it will connect. My work phone is also forwarding to my cell phone. Just know that we are all safe and sound down at my parents’ house. Pray for rain!

Update: (Oct 22, 2007 @ 3:54PM) The Coronodo Hills fire (the one that caused our evacuation) is 100% contained and they are letting people return to San Elijo Hills! We will be spending the night at my parents’ house just in case things change later.

Update: (Oct 23, 2007 @ 8:27AM) Our house is still ok as of this time. For those of you that are following this, there is a good blog post here that is being updated and commented on by San Elijo residents.

Update: (Oct 24, 2007 @ 9:12AM) Most of our neighbors have returned to their homes and are reporting blue skies above San Elijo Hills. We will be returning sometime this morning, I’d expect. Hopefully the rest of the fires around the rest of the county can be contained soon.

Dionne and Lance, we are watching all the reports and appreciate your updates as well. Mike and I are thinking about you all as well as Amy, David and Jadyn in Ocean Beach. We are praying that the winds and fires subside quickly. You are always in our thoughts and prayers.
